A silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in width overall consisting of a silver sword, point up, on a blue background between two silver spades crossed in saltire and surmounted at the center by a yellow Philippine sun charged with a blue arrowhead all in front of and extending over a continuous scarlet scroll, the portion behind the spade handles and sword point circular and the lower portion surmounting the sword grip and inscribed NO JOB TOO TOUGH in silver letters.
Scarlet and white are the colors used for Engineers. The sword alludes to combat readiness, and the two spades, symbolic of construction, refer to the basic mission of the organization. The Philippine sun on the blue background alludes to service in the Philippines during World War II for which the unit, then Co A, 107th Medical Battalion, received both the Presidential Unit Citation (Army) for action on Luzon and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. The arrowhead refers to participation in the New Guinea campaign.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 4 February 1971.
